It offers a candidate with high potential the scope to develop a research programme in collaboration with a strong research group. The successful candidate will also assist in the teaching of the department, the expected teaching load being about half that of a tenured University lecturer. The Saïd Business School is one of Europe’s fastest-growing and most prestigious management schools. It boasts a record of outstanding research across a wide range of social sciences and areas of business and management. Further information about the School is available at http://www.sbs.ox.ac.uk.

We are now seeking to recruit a research fellow with a background (or interest) in Science and Technology Studies (STS) or a cognate social science discipline to work on a project exploring the legal, ethical and institutional issues associated with grid enabled e-Sciences. The focus for the research fellow is to investigate the genesis of new knowledge from the application and development of advanced Internet and grid technologies. In particular, the focus is to examine the ways in which new modes of visualisation and of data sharing are implicated in the production of scientific knowledge.

The researcher should have a PhD in science and technology studies or relevant cognate discipline or a higher degree and considerable relevant experience, especially in fieldwork, demonstrated research record, experience of, or familiarity with, ethnographic research methods, ability to work both independently and as part or a team and excellent communications skills, both oral and in writing.

This is a fixed-term position for three years.

Grade 9: Salary £42,351 - £49,096 p.a.

More than 500 million become severely ill with malaria every year and more than 1 million die from the effects of the disease. The Worldwide Antimalarial Resistance Network (WWARN), working with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will set up a global drug resistance information resource so that more of the right drugs can get to the right people at the right time, and the drugs will last longer. The Head of Advocacy and Communications is a new role within the new WWARN office in Oxford. The postholder will develop communications, advocacy, and fundraising strategies and implement these across the network. They will lead the drive to advocate WWARN’s activities globally and raise new funds to support these activities.

You will have significant experience of promoting health or science related activities to a broad audience and developing strategies for advocacy and fundraising. Strong diplomatic skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people from different cultures is essential, as is the availability to travel. You will have creative flair and the ability to motivate others. Fluency in French, Spanish or Portuguese is highly desirable.
