The School of Education has a strong profile in providing highly regarded pre-service and postgraduate teacher education in the Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary areas, in which the work in English and Literacies Education plays a key role. Courses are offered both on campus and via distance education. The English and Literacies team through the Centre for Research in English and Multiliteracies Education (CREME) http://www.une.edu.au/creme/ has an extensive research program including large ARC projects in multiliteracies and a large and increasing group of doctoral and masters research students.

The successful applicant will augment the current English and Literacies team, enhancing its expanding role in conducting significant externally funded research projects, supervising higher degree research students and contributing to postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and teacher professional learning.

Essential criteria for appointment include a doctoral qualification in a relevant field of study and professional experience relevant to the education of students in primary or secondary school contexts. The successful applicant will also need to demonstrate knowledge of key research, theories, policies and practices in English and Literacies Education, including current trends, challenges and reforms. For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, applicants will also require a sound record of scholarly publication including papers in refereed journals, experience in the supervision of research higher degree students, evidence of capacity to attract external research funding, and demonstrated success in tertiary teaching.

Job Description: Jubail Industrial College has opportunities for well-qualified committed individuals to work as Lecturers/Senior Lecturers in Chemical Engineering Technology of the Chemical and Process Engineering Technology Department.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The applicants should have a strong background in their field of specialty with good presentation and computer skills. Experience in curriculum development will be an advantage.

Job Specification: Qualification required is M.Sc. or Ph.'D. in Chemical Engineering / Technology with specialization in one of the following areas: (a) Process Control, (b) Process Troubleshooting, (c) Process Simulation and Optimization.
Experience: 3 years teaching in a polytechnic or technical college/university in the relevant field and 2 years industrial experience.

Skills/Knowledge: Applicants will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level, develop course materials, and experiments in their chosen specialty, exploiting the many opportunities for facility and curriculum development.

Salary/Benefit: Two-year renewable contract with tax-free competitive salaries based on qualifications and experience, plus settling-in and transportation allowances, service increments and end-of-service gratuity. Air tickets are provided for up to four persons on appointment and termination, and for the annual summer vacation. Free education for two children up to the age of 18, furnished accommodation or payment in-lieu, and free medical and dental are included. There is an eight-week vacation in the summer and two weeks each at the end of Ramadan and at Hajj periods.

Environment: Jubail is an attractive place to live. It is located on the shore of the Gulf, with excellent beaches and opportunities for swimming, diving and fishing and also for trips into the desert. There is a well equipped sports-center very near to the College as well as a range of shopping facilities. An hour's drive away is the town of Khobar which has an array of shops and restaurants of world-class standard, whilst excellent library facilities are available at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran.
