MRC PhD Studentships in Mathematics & Statistics Applied to Medical Problems

Students are invited for two prestigious four-year PhD Studentships funded by MRC, starting September 2010. Potential projects concerned with problems in physiology, neuroscience and population health are available, involving applied mathematics, stochastic modelling and statistics. These studentships include a stipend that is higher than the usual Research Council rates.Students should have, or expect to obtain, a first or upper second class degree in mathematics, statistics or a closely related subject.
These studentships are open to EU nationals (ordinarily resident in the UK) and UK nationals. EU nationals get fees and maintenance if they have been resident in the UK for three years, whereas other EU nationals may only get fees. EEA nationals must be UK residents employed in the UK. Other foreign nationals are only eligible if they are certified as permanent UK residents. Full eligibility criteria for MRC Studentships are available at: www.mrc.ac.uk.
